The Power Of Your Breath

Have you ever noticed that when you're feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed, your breathing changes?
Your breath may become faster and shallower, your body may begin to tense, and before you know it, your mind can become caught up in racing thoughts, worry and everything that needs your attention.
But something as simple as becoming aware of your breath can give you an opportunity to pause.
When you notice yourself becoming stressed or overwhelmed, try finding a quiet space for just a few minutes.
Close your eyes if it feels comfortable.
Relax your shoulders.
Take a slow, gentle breath in.
Then slowly breathe out.
Allow yourself to simply focus on your breathing for a few moments, rather than everything happening around you.
As you slow down, you may begin to feel more relaxed, grounded and present. And when the noise in your mind begins to settle, it can become easier to think more clearly and see things from a different perspective.
Sometimes we try to find solutions while our minds are racing.
We analyse.
We overthink.
We worry.
We try to work everything out at once.
Yet often, clarity comes when we give ourselves permission to stop trying so hard to find it.
A quieter mind can create space for different choices, new perspectives and solutions we may not have noticed when we were feeling overwhelmed.
And the beautiful thing about your breath is that it is always with you.
You don't need any special equipment.
You don't need to go anywhere.
You simply need to remember to pause and reconnect with it.
So today, if life begins to feel a little too fast, give yourself a moment.
Pause.
Breathe.
Reconnect.
Ask yourself:
What do I need right now?
Perhaps you don't need to solve everything in this moment.
Perhaps you simply need to come back to yourself.
Your breath can be the bridge between where you are and a calmer, more present you.
Create for yourself a peaceful day. You may also like to read - Are you running on empty… without even realising it?
